The eighth grade focused on how the Church is holy in Jesus its founder, in its mission, and in its members who are called to holiness. We reviewed the different sacraments- Sacraments of Initiation, Sacraments of Healing, and Sacraments of Service of Communion. We learned about the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. The students also looked at different saints and how they responded to the gifts of the Holy Spirit namely Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. We identified the gifts in people that that we know and also how to use them to influence our daily decisions. We also have been studying how th echurch is catholic. They examined the universal nature of the Church. We reflected on Jesus' mission to proclaim the Good News to all and considered practical ways that they can participate in the same mission in their lives. The eighth grade has been working very hard practicing for their portrayal of Jesus’ Passion at their mass on April 4th at 10 AM- Please join us!

7B- Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

We have been focusing on The Apostles, Mary, and Jesus as the Master. We reflected on the impact Jesus had on the first disciples. They also learned that their own relationship with Him can deepen too. We learned what is required of a disciple. We looked at the 12 Apostles and the students made baseball cards for their assigned apostle. We also found out why Mary is the first and best disciple. The students are also working on Sacraments of Initiation Booklets, where they reflected upon the sacraments that they have received. They realized how God has been with them through it all. They also looked ahead to Confirmation and connected how what they are doing now is preparing them to receive this sacrament.  The students learn that Jesus is still with us through the 7 sacraments and that we accept his call to discipleship in the Sacraments of Initiation. We are learning about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). During Lent, the 7th grade has been beautifully portraying the Living Stations of the Cross at morning assembly.

6B- St. John the Baptist

 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Continuing on in learning about our family of faith, we learned how Jacob was chosen by God. We became acquainted with the story of Jacob, and they learned that they, too, have been chosen by God at baptism, when they received God’s blessing and God called them by name. They realized that they, like Jacob, have received a mission: to continue the life and work of Jesus as Christians wherever they are. After Jacob, we studied the Israelites journey to Egypt.  We traced the events in the life of Joseph, the son of Jacob (Israel), and learned how God brings good out of situations that seem hopeless. We saw how God’s providence nourishes hope and encourages the people of God to look beyond the trials of the present to the glory that is to come. We also explored the concept of Christ’s prefigurement in the Old Testament people and events. We took our Unit 2 test and will be moving on to learn about Moses guiding the Chosen People through the desert.
